Training Rabbis for Ethical Leadership

An emphasis on ethics is integrated throughout the rabbinic curriculum at the Reconstructionist Rabbinical College. The cultivation of ethical leadership is supported through a range of academic courses and formative experiences, including:

  • A foundational course in rabbinic roles and relationships
  • A senior seminar in professional and organizational ethics for rabbis
  • Elective offerings on biomedical ethics, ethics of speech and economic justice
  • Courses in classic Jewish ethical texts
  • An orientation to the Reconstructionist Rabbinical Association Code of Ethics for new students
  • A rotation of required and elective workshops in leadership practice
  • Day-long, school-wide case-based learning
  • Spiritual Direction
  • Mussar study
  • Supervision and mentorship for rabbinic internships and work placement

Help support the next generation of ethical leaders.  A gift to the The David A. Teutsch Fund for Ethical Leadership supports rabbinical students pursuing research and service to advance the field of Jewish ethics.
