The Reconstructionist Rabbinical College seeks a part-time Administrative Assistant to support the office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs. The assistant provides exceptional, seasoned and reliable administrative support to the office with tact and professionalism and manages the calendar, communications and logistical support for the office. The assistant projects the dignity of the office in all communications while serving as a liaison for the dean to students, faculty, staff and other stakeholders.


Responsibilities Include:

  • Maintaining, adjusting and editing calendars of extensive meetings and events accurately and with careful attention to detail.
  • Initiating, receiving, directing and responding to requests by email and phone.
  • Initiating and managing logistics, communication, catering, technology, and materials for meetings, events, seminars, committees, and in-services.
  • Initiating and managing arrangements for conference calls and webinars and overseeing their successful execution.
  • Attending meetings while composing meeting minutes and administering projection.
  • Support of faculty, adjunct teaching staff, students and academic administrators as needed.
  • Communication to students and faculty.
  • Guest reception.
  • Information management: letter creation, proofreading, mail merges, document updates and filing.
  • Processing expense reimbursement and credit card reconciliation.
  • Problem solving and troubleshooting myriad issues.

  • Ability to proficiently use the following without training: MS Office Suite (Mail Merge, Outlook, Word, Excel).
  • Ability to meet deadlines, self-motivate and track tasks.

  • Organized and attentive to details.
  • Ability to project warmth, interest and competence in all interactions.
  • Ability to retain information, master new skills quickly, and self-train.



  • At least three years of administrative assistant experience supporting an executive level supervisor.
  • Experience managing multiple, concurrent projects.
  • Extensive Microsoft Outlook (both calendar and email), Word, and Excel experience required (candidates will be required to pass skills assessments for MS Office).
  • Experience scheduling and executing meetings via virtual platforms such as Zoom & Doodle.
  • Experience editing and proofreading.
  • Event experience preferred.



$21-23 per hour, commensurate with experience.



We are hiring this position at 24-30 hours per week, depending on the candidate’s availability. At a set schedule of at least 30 hours per week, this position becomes eligible for our generous benefits package. Please indicate in with your application what your maximum availability is.

Hours will be spread over four to five days per week.



At a minimum of 30 hours worked per week, benefits include health insurance, 401(k), generous paid vacation and sick time, and ample time off for major Jewish and American holidays.  We offer a dynamic and progressive workplace.
