Shabbat Worship and Discussion on Reconstructionism - More Info

Shabbat Alive services, University Synagogue’s jazz and pop service with a band, led by Rabbi Rachlis and Cantor Braier with the participation of Rabbi Yael Ridberg of Congregation Dor Hadash in San Diego.

Following services, Rabbi Deborah Waxman, Ph.D., president of Reconstructing Judaism, will dialogue with Rabbi Rachlis on “The Past, Present and Future of Reconstructionism.”


Shabbat Services and Day of Community - RSVP

Calamigos Beach Club, Malibu

Join Reconstructing Judaism staff and board members on Saturday, March 28 at 9:00 a.m. for a day of community hosted by Malibu Jewish Center and Synagogue, to be held at the beautiful Calamingos Beach Club on the Pacific Coast Highway. Our day will begin with a relaxed meet and greet over coffee and danish, followed by Saturday morning services and d’var torah and study with the president of Reconstructing Judaism, Rabbi Deborah Waxman, Ph.D.

The day will continue with a lunch program where we will discuss resilience through community, to be followed by an afternoon of sessions that help us explore our Judaism through community, art, and the natural world.

Day of Community Schedule
9 a.m. Coffee and Danish
9:15 a.m. Morning Services with d’var torah and study with Rabbi Deborah Waxman, Ph.D. on “Finding God in Community”
12 p.m. Lunch Program: facilitated conversations on “Resilience Through Community”
1:15 p.m. Afternoon Engagement Sessions with Rabbi Jeff Eisenstat, Tresa Grauer, Ph.D., Susan Levine, Julianne Schwartz, Rabbi Deborah Waxman, Ph.D., and Cyd Weissman.
2:40 p.m.  Closing Remarks

Three Reconstructionist Rabbis in Conversation: A Havdalah Gathering - RSVP

Kehillat Israel, Pacific Palisades

Join the Kehillat Israel community and Reconstructing Judaism staff and board members for a night of music, discussion and dessert. The night will feature a musical Havdalah, along with a wide-ranging conversation between three Reconstructionist rabbis: Rabbi Steven Carr Reuben, rabbi emeritus of Kehillat Israel and Reconstructing Judaism board member, Rabbi Amy Bernstein, senior rabbi of Kehillat Israel, and Rabbi Deborah Waxman, Ph.D, president of Reconstructing Judaism.
