God Is Here: Reimagining the Divine

Tuesday, June 13, 2023 - 1:00 pm EDT

Join Rabbi Jacob Staub on Tuesday, June 16 at 1 p.m. EDT for our next Evolve Web Conversation with Rabbi Toba Spitzer. They will discuss “God Is Here: Reimagining the Divine.”

Join Rabbi Toba Spitzer for a reading and conversation about her new book God Is Here: Reimagining the Divine. Praised by Rabbi Arthur Green as “a new Ten Sefirot for the contemporary Jewish seeker,” God is Here explores how metaphor shapes our experience of the divine.  With a rich palette of metaphors from Jewish tradition, seekers and doubters alike can begin to understand and access the sacred in new and powerful ways.

Contributors of $250 or more are invited to join the live session.
This is the first of five web conversations in our “Uncover the Light” shiurim series.  A donation of $250 or more will grant the contributor access to the entire Shiurim series web conversations, both during the live recorded session and the recording for later viewing. If you have donated at this level or higher and have not received the zoom link, please contact Rachel Forth at RForth@ReconstructingJudaism.org.

About Rabbi Toba Spitzer

Rabbi Toba Spitzer has served Congregation Dorshei Tzedek since she was ordained in 1997 at the Reconstructionist Rabbinical College. In March of 2022 she published her first book, God Is Here: Reimagining the Divine, from St Martin’s Press (you can learn more about the book at www.rabbitobspitzer.net). Spitzer served as the president of the Reconstructionist Rabbinical Association from 2007-09, and was the first lesbian or gay rabbi to head a national rabbinic organization.

About Evolve: Groundbreaking Jewish Conversations

Evolve: Groundbreaking Jewish Conversations is an initiative of Reconstructing Judaism. We seek to promote the ongoing evolution of the Jewish community by launching collective, communal conversations about the urgent issues of our day. To that end, Evolve brings multiple voices together to listen to one another’s point of view and to interact respectfully. In an era when it has become ever more difficult to remain open to viewpoints that differ from our own, Evolve cultivates covenantal conversations even when we disagree. In this way, we hope to enhance the ongoing evolution of Jewish civilization. Learn more on our Evolve website.
