Several Reconstructionist Rabbinical College graduates and others affiliated with the movement are featured in “Rising Tides, Riding Voices: Songs for the Jewish Climate Movement.” The new digital songbook offers music and chants to inspire, mobilize and energize. The songbook can also be a source of comfort for climate activists during times of grief and loss.
It is a project of Dayenu: A Jewish Call to Climate Action, which is building a dynamic, multi-generational movement of American Jews confronting the climate crisis. Contributors with Reconstructionist ties include: Koach Baruch Frazier, a Reconstructionist Rabbinical College student; Rabbi Shefa Gold, RRC ’96; Aly Halpert, who leads Tot Shabbat services at Kol Tzedek in West Philadelphia; Batya Levine, a Kol Tzedek member; and Rena Branson, who grew up attending SAJ: Judaism that Stands for All in New York.
Another contributor, Yoshi Silverstein, founded Mitsui Collective, which counts Rabbi Deborah Waxman, Ph.D., president of Reconstructing Judaism, as a board member.
