Sam Kates-Goldman

Sam Kates-Goldman is Or Hadash’s rabbinic intern. You may find him leading services or Torah study, or supporting Or Hadash’s Social Action/Tikkun Olam committee. Student Rabbi Sam is a fourth year student at Reconstructionist Rabbinical College. In addition to his work at Or Hadash, he also works for the college’s Center for Jewish Ethics. His projects with the Center focus on supporting Jewish organizations both as communities engaged in repairing the world, and as sites of personal ethical inquiry. Before joining Or Hadash, Student Rabbi Sam taught Jewish philosophy at the Evergreen State College in Olympia, Washington. His academic work looks closely at Emmanuel Levinas’ philosophy and religious writings, especially his talmudic commentaries. Sam loves to chat about Reconstructionism, social change, and making meaning.
