2024 Live Online Events for Yom HaZikaron and Yom Ha’atzmaut

We are approaching two of the most important days on the Israeli calendar – Yom HaZikaron (Day of Remembrance for Fallen Soldiers and Victims of Terrorism) and Yom Ha’atzmaut (Independence Day).

Yom HaZikaron will begin at sunset on Sunday, May 12 continues throughout the day of Monday, May 13. Here are two online programs that may be of interest to your members:

The 19th Israeli-Palestinian Joint Memorial Day Ceremony (streaming online) will take place on Sunday, May 12 at 1:30 pm Eastern Time. To register, click on this link.

Each year, Masa Israel hosts the largest English-speaking international Yom Hazikaron ceremony in the world to honor Israel’s Fallen Soldiers and Victims of Terrorism. The ceremony begins on Sunday, May 12 at 12:50 pm Eastern time and will be streaming live on YouTube at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iHGy4jKAl7I

While both events overlap in time, they will be preserved and viewable afterwards, so it is possible to watch both.

In honor of Yom Ha’atzmaut / Israeli Independence Day Reconstructing Judaism is offering an event along with our partners in the Progressive Israel Network, titled Finding Promise in the Present, a webinar that will feature Representative Jerry Nadler; Executive Director of Have You Seen the Horizon Lately, Shir Nosatzki; as well as Israeli activist Ami Dror; Rabbi Andrea London; and Israeli-born singer Danny Maseng. It will be a moment to gather together as a community for hope, compassion, and a vision for a better, more shared future for everyone in the region. You can register at this link.
