Interactive Workshop: Expanding the Conversation on Israel-Palestine: Toward a New Reconstructionist Approach

  • December 11, 2024
with Sue Lanser

This session will introduce participants to “Reconstructionists Expanding the Conversation on Israel-Palestine” organized by a group of Reconstructionist rabbis and laypeople. Our programs are currently co-sponsored by nine Reconstructionist congregations. After we provide a snapshot of the programs we have sponsored since 2021, we hope to foster a robust conversation about the values and actions that could guide Reconstructionist leaders and congregants in envisioning a just future for the Israeli and Palestinian peoples.

Resources

Resistance to calling the establishment of the State of Israel a nakba, a “catastrophe” for Palestinians, is reminiscent of the resistance of white Americans to acknowledging that American prosperity was built on oppression and white supremacy.
