The leadership of Reconstructing Judaism and especially the faculty and students of the Reconstructionist Rabbinical College express condolences to the Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion community and the entire Reform movement on the tragic death of Rabbi Aaron Panken, Ph.D., 12th president of HUC-JIR. Aaron was a visionary leader, a thoughtful scholar, a generous colleague and a mensch. His ties to the Reconstructionist movement were both collegial and familial and his loss feels personal and painful. May his family and his many communities find much comfort from the Omnipresent and from each other, and may his memory be a blessing.
